In February 2016, five national agencies united to create a taskforce to produce and release evidence based recommendations on training and standards of practice for first aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation. The timing of this taskforce and recommendations could not have been more perfect as the College of Dental Hygienists of Manitoba (CDHM) was in the initial stages of creating a practice guideline specific to the CDHM CPR requirements which helps to clarify these requirements for all practising registrants. This practice guideline will come into effect December 1st 2017.
All CPR courses taken between December 1, 2016 and November 30, 2017 must meet these requirements, meaning that all prospective registrants and renewing registrants will be required to acquire CPR certification from one of the National Agencies listed in the practice guideline.
