CDHM Board of Assessor Position

The College of Dental Hygienists of Manitoba (CDHM) has an open position on its Board of Assessors, effective May 1, 2017. The position will commence after the following selection process.

Interested individuals are asked to provide a professional resume and covering letter indicating why s/he would like to serve in this position by April 18, 2017 via email to: cdhm@cdhm.info or in hard copy to the CDHM office located at:

After review of the resumes, applicants will be short-listed for an interview prior to final selection.

DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES OF THE BOARD OF ASSESSORS 

Purpose

Assess and approve applicants for registration as a dental hygienist in Manitoba in accordance with the requirements set out in The Dental Hygienists Act and Regulations

Composition

The Board of Assessors is composed of a minimum of three dental hygienists appointed by the Council of the College of Dental Hygienists of Manitoba. Board members serve a 3-year term, and if offered, may serve additional terms.

 Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assess applications for registration as a dental hygienist.
  2. Consider and decide whether applications for registration should be approved and, if so, whether any conditions should be attached to such registration.

Qualifications

Must be registered and in good standing as a practising or non-practising dental hygienist in Manitoba.

Remuneration

Board of Assessor appointees are remunerated on an hourly basis at $20/hour to a maximum of $480 per fiscal year.

Continuing Competency Program Reviewers for 2016

The College of Dental Hygienists of Manitoba (CDHM) will require Continuing Competency Program (CCP) Reviewers to assist the College with providing feedback to the membership. CCP reviewers will work under the direction of the Deputy Registrar.
Role of the reviewer

  • Review the CCP submissions using the CDHM Feedback Guidelines for the Continuing Competency Program

Selection Criteria

  • Must be registered and in good standing as a practicing dental hygienist in Manitoba
  • Commitment to lifelong learning, policies and principles of the CCP
  • Maintains high standards of work and attention to detail
  • Reliability
  • Effectively manages time and completes tasks on time to ensure the CCR/PAR feedback is completed within the specified timelines
  • Maintains and respects confidentiality of information
    Works well with individuals/ teams
  • Responds positively to direction
  • Has excellent interpersonal/communication skills, oral and written
  • Has computer experience

Remuneration

CCP Reviewers are remunerated on an hourly basis at $20/hour, up to a maximum of $460.00/year.

POSITION DESCRIPTION – Deputy Registrar February 2015

The College of Dental Hygienists of Manitoba (CDHM) is the regulatory body for Manitoba’s over 700 registered dental hygienists with the mandate to protect the public through the regulation of dental hygiene. The CDHM is restructuring its team and invites applicants for the position of Deputy Registrar. This is a part-time position, reporting to the Registrar/Executive Director. To be successful in the position you must be a practising registrant (or be eligible for practising registration) with the CDHM, preferably with a broad scope of dental hygiene experience, with at least 5 years of experience in dental hygiene roles such as administration and program development.

Reporting to the Registrar/Executive Director, the successful candidate will contribute to meeting the mandate of the College as part of the senior management team by leading projects, supporting College programs such as the Continuing Competency Program and assuming the Registrar/Executive Director’s duties in her absence.

Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Deputy Registrar is a two day/week position at the CDHM office. The Deputy Registrar will be flexible and structure his or her time to meet the needs of the College and its Committees. Baccalaureate degree and experience in health professions regulation is required.

Excellent verbal and written skills as well as effective teamwork skills will enable the successful candidate to assume the responsibilities of this position.
