Applications are invited for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the School of Dental Hygiene, College of Dentistry, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, Canada. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The School of Dental Hygiene is located in the College of Dentistry in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba and is part of a dynamic health sciences campus providing opportunities for inter-professional collaboration and education with other health disciplines. All three pillars of the University of Manitoba, excellence in teaching, research and service, are the focus of academic activities. The appointment will commence on January 1, 2015 or as soon thereafter as possible.

The candidate must have a diploma or degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program and a Master’s Degree in Dental Hygiene or a related field; a PhD in a relevant discipline is preferred. A record of scholarly and research activity will be considered an asset as well as involvement with Inter-professional Education. The candidate must be eligible to register as a Dental Hygienist with the College of Dental Hygienists of Manitoba. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and is subject to final budgetary approval.

Responsibilities will include a combination of all/some of the following: 1) Didactic, preclinical, and/or clinical teaching and/or student supervision in the undergraduate program, Baccalaureate in Dental Hygiene program, and graduate student programing; 2) Involved in the development of a research program and/or other scholarly activity; and 3) Service on School, Faculty and University committees, and/or to the dental hygiene profession/external agencies. Extramural dental hygiene practice privilege is available 1-day per week if desired.

The position will be a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in the School of Dental Hygiene (rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience).

Applicants must hold a degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program, have experience in dental hygiene education, and be eligible to register as a Dental Hygienist with the College of Dental Hygienists of Manitoba. Experience in management and/or academic administration is preferred and a Master’s degree/PhD in a relevant discipline is an asset and individuals holding such degrees are encouraged to apply.

The Director will report to the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and be an integral part of the leadership team assuming responsibility for guiding the future growth of the School. Specifically, the Director will be responsible for overall administration of the School of Dental Hygiene including: 1) curriculum development; 2) recruiting; 3) mentoring/maintaining a diverse and talented faculty/staff; 4) coordination of faculty/staff development; 5) fostering excellence in education, research and service; 6) student counseling; 7) supervision of research activities within the School; 8) fundraising and alumni relations; and 9) participation on School, Faculty and University committees. In addition, the Director will be expected to maintain involvement in teaching and participation in research and/or scholarly activities (a record of extramurally funded scholarly/research activity will be considered an asset). Extramural dental hygiene practice privilege is available 1 day per week if desired.
